St. Ailbe School Reviews

By the end of my child's first year at St. Ailbe her math score rose 30 percentile points on the Terra Nova tests. Her cumulative score was up 8 points. Also important, she has made friends and likes school. She loves schools and she loves band.

My son started at St. Ailbe last year and unfortunately it was not what I expected especially coming from a smaller school and less tuition. For the amount of money that you pay, you are not getting much. They emphasis their fine arts more than anything.

St. Ailbe has a beautiful children's choir--the music direction is fabulous.

Whoever posted 'Good school. Good students...' must be at some other St. Ailbe. The school is an absolute joke. The principal is never present mentally or physically. The office staff is discourteous and lacks knowledge in professionalism. The sanitation conditions of the school are disgusting. My child has often complained of foul odor in the restrooms as well as in the school. During the winter, please make sure your insurance is current because the grounds are not shoveled or salted. Discipline and safety concerns for the children are absent. Recently, I've been informed of illegal drugs being brought into the school. You would think parents would have been notified by the school, however, in my case, I was informed by my child. The only positive about the school is the teachers. For the most part, they are knowledgable about the content they teach and express a genuine concern for the children.

Good school. Good staff. Good students. Nothing but positive experiences with admin, teachers, and parents.

I am extremely disgusted by this school. While the teachers and the curriculum are excellent, the administration is incompetent and unfriendly. The principal is always too 'busy to talk to parents about their issues and concerns. She certainly isn't busy ensuring proper discipline and sanitation in the school. Discipline is a joke since the adminitrators are neither present nor consistant. The only positive thing I have to say about the school is concerning the teachers. They are truely caring and passionate about what they do. However, if conditions don't improve, even that may change. The lack of leadership in the school is something you should look into before sending your child here.

My child has been attending St. Ailbe school for 7 years and I have had experience with former teachers and the previous school administration. I was on the verge of removing my child from the school but am satisfied with the changes the current Principal has made in the last few years. In my opinion there was a lot of cleaning up that the Adminstration had to do. There are now competent, qualified, and caring teachers and the academic program has strengthed tremendously !

This school has good teachers but unfortunately the adminstration is not up to par at all. Not all parents are the same but for some reason they treat parents with a lack of respect and disconcern for a child. This school thus far is the worst I have seen. I have a child who was attending this school for 2 years straight nothing but headaches. The children's safety is not a priority to St. Sabina at all. They charge you for 12 months of tuition although there is only 10 months of school. They only have one goal- Money that is it.. I will not recommend this school to anyone

I am utterly disgusted by this school. while the teachers are fabulous, the administration is incompetent and unfriendly. The principal is always too 'busy' to adress parents and their concerns, but busy doing what I am unsure about. It certainly isn't busy ensuring proper discipline and sanitation in the school. My child has come home regularly complaining of unsanitary restroom conditions and bugs in the classroom. Discipline is a joke since the adminitrators are neither present nor consistant. The only positive thing I have to say about the school is concerning the teachers. They are truely caring and passionate about what they do. However, if conditions don't improve, even that may change. The lack of leadership in the school is apparent--think again before sending your child here.

This was my first year at St. Ailbe, and also my last. My reasons for leaving include curriculum, tuition price and administration. I was told by the school's administration that the curriculum was academically sound, and test scores were good. I am extremely disappointed by the curriculum oveall, and it doesn't stress language arts which is essential to success on the language driven Terra Nova Tests. Each grade is a hit or miss - some teachers good some bad. This school prides itself on their extracurriclars choir, band and drama classes rather than academics. In closing, it seems the administration is in transistion with a 2nd year principal who needs more training in leadership, professionalism, and working better with parents. My advice - before registering here, DO your homework and review. You're not getting your bang for your bucks.

I am a St. Ailbe parent who is very pleased with the school. Yes, there are some issues I don't like, but what school doesn't have issues. There is a new principal and there have been some changes...for the better. The school is continually growing and improving. All the staff is very pleasant and supportive and the parents seem nice. The curriculum seems to be improving and I've been told most of the eighth graders got accepted into good schools. That says something about the school.

2005-2006 was my first school year at St. Ailbe. The following story is unbelievable, sad, and true. I asked a teacher if my daugther could take her books home. If math was taught that day, please bring the math book home, if reading, bring the reading book home, etc. Well the teacher collected the books and placed the books on the shelf. From Aug to Oct. I kept asking for books but my daughter never brought the books home. Well I asked the principal if she was aware of what was going on because I was frustrated. I am thinking of taking my children out of this school. The principal replied some people like St. Ailbe and some people don't. For the people who dont like St. Ailbe. They should find another school. This matter went to the priest and since then it has been a misunderstanding.

For the first time I have a 4th grader at St. Ailbe School. I'm very pleased with the school and with her class in particular. There are wonderful opportunities--she plays flute in the band and writes for the school newspaper. Other activities include choir, a wide range of sports and several clubs. Students have a significant amount of homework each week night and major projects, both individual and group work on a regular basis. Academic instruction includes the usual math, reading, spelling and English--both writing and grammar, but there are also classes in Spanish, computer, drama, art, music and PE. It's a Catholic school so there is weekly Mass on Thursday, daily prayers in the classroom and religion classes. The principal knows each students by name. She knows not only their names, but actually knows each students. I really like the school and am very pleased with my 4th grader's progress.

It sounds as if the persons who left the previous comments are quite unfamiliar with the school. My child has attended St. Ailbe School for the last five years and I must say that the school is moving forward in a postive manner. I am pleased at the direction the school is moving in and am pleased with the academic programs, and the extra-curriculum activites. The school is a great place and I would recommend St. Ailbe school to parents.

It seems that the persons who posted the previous comments are unfamilar with St. Ailbe School. My child has attended St. Ailbe School for the last five years and I have to say that the school is moving in a positive direction. I am pleased with the academic programs, extracurricular activites and am excited at the upward direction in which the school is moving. I recommend St. Ailbe School to parents.

My child goes to st.Ailbe school. . The dont give out homework. They charge a arm and leg for tution. The dont go on any kind of trips. The school has really went down since they got a new principle in 2004. . But it has gone downhill. Please if you are thinking about sending your child here don't. it just a shame that you have to pay all this money for nothing. Its like throwing money in the air. My child will not return .

This is one of the worst schools to send our children to. The money that we spend there is not worth the pitiful education our children recieve. There are cats running around the school chasing the mice that are running rampid. I advise anyine that has a student attending to take your child out NOW!! Your child will not be prepared for any high school and if you know anyone planning on sending their children here stop them before it is too late!! Believe what I am saying because I am unfortunately an alumni of St.Ailbe catholic school.
