Sullivan Elementary School Reviews

The school is very beautiful, but it's a shame their letting out of control kids do what they want. There is no order, security officers are a joke they only look busy when they know parents are watching. There is no structure and one can only forget about discipline. I gave up with this school I see it closing in a couple of years, for this upcoming school year I already pulled my three kids out, because if I left them there the only lessons they would learn is how to act like a bunch of wild indians and not to mention a defense lesson.

I am very disappointed in this school. Everything is unorganized all year. They dont do work with the kids in class all the work is sent home for me to do with my son. The kids are allowed to run amuck all day including in class time I cant wait to pull my kids out of this school!

I believe the administration at Sullivan works very hard to have a solid academic program. Their heart is definely in the right place. The big problem to me seems to be the lower grades' teachers. They are typcially young and less experienced. This affects the academic program because I don't think the teachers have enough experience. They seem to do things based on book learned lessons in college. I don't think they've grasped that all children don't learn alike and sometimes they need to be creative in their approach to teaching. The administration is quick responding to grievances. They always have good afterschool programs. And the parent involement at Sullivan is prettey impressive for the school to be located in the neighborhood it is located. I would say the parent involement is higher in the Sullivan neighborhood than in similar neighborhoods.

I think this a good school, because the teachers strive for excellence from the students. They make the students responsible for their behavior. The school has started detentions for students that are late to school on purpose. And to me it is a deterent that will get the kids to school on time. Way to go Sullivan.

On the first day of school it was very unorganized. The office staff is not very friendly. Lack of communication or memos to the parents all year round.
