Calumet High School Reviews

I am a current senior at Calumet and I have read all of the reviews which can seem very misleading to someone who has not been around Calumet for a number of years. We have a new principal now named Mr. Freeman who puts his heart and soul into leading our school. He is a phenomenal person. Then there are our teachers at CHS who do an outstanding job of helping us to learn and not only teaching us the lessons in their subject areas, but they also teach us some of the fundmentals of life; often teaching us things that our parents should be teaching. Some of these teachers have become a crutch for the students, and many students find a support system withing that building. Calumet is a gold mine of knowledge and support. Anyone who speaks ill of it hasn't been paying attention...

I think the School Is just Fine infact Its one of the best In the are. I have never gone into a School And when the students are asked Do you think theres a racial Problem they Laughed and no one! raised there hands I have never seen More students get along in one grouping sure there is some teasing but in all Everyone seems to be Friends. The school doesnt get much money no. Ive attended Calumet highschool For 3 Years. I have not found a a problem in our teachers or anyone. Also are principle Does not have a lack of leadership.

Calumet is a 'middle of the road' school. By far not the best in area and not the worst. I have found the guidance counselors a total and utter disappointment. They not only don't respond to the students, they don't respond to parents either. Some of the teachers show great commitment and interest in their students, such as Ms. Wierzbicki..but far too many allow way too much goofing around & poor performance in their classrooms.

I've been attending Calumet High School for two years now. I believe this school can be just as good as every other school if we just try our hardest at everything. Not just only in sports. We needed to work on learning too.I try my hardest in school not just for myself and my parents. For the whole entire school and the cheer sqaud. To show that we have people in this school trying to be all that they can be and more.I know everyone in this school can achieve their goals and dreams if they just try hard enough and never give up on themselves or others. They need to remember that we all our the school not just a few people.

I am a Student at Calumet I feel it has some of the best teachers that you can find. The teachers are always willing to help and devoted to teaching. Some of the teachers I feel are the best are both of the Keehn's, Patack, Hobart, and Shimek.

My son transferred to Calumet High School in 2006 and was ahead of his fellow Geometry classmates by about 1 year, so what his classmates were learning in Oct 2006, he knew back from 2005. My son has adapted to his new school and would rather finish out High school at Calumet then transfer any where else. Very rarely, do you hear that from a 10th grader! I rate this school a 100% score!

The teachers here are great; unfortunately, this is a poor district and the majority of the extra-curricular activities are being cut. There is limited parental support; but, if a student wants to work extra, the teachers will almost always stay after to help their students.

I found Calumet High School to be more challenging than college, and even law school. The teachers were great and really cared about the students; however, the guidance counselors were horrible. None of them ever met with me to discuss my post-secondary educational goals.
